FY21 Residential Technology Study
This page serves to provide community resources and document progress on the development and implementation of the FY21 Residential Technology Survey.

Background

The Residential Technology Study conducted in 1998, 2010, 2014 and 2018, and as proposed for 2021, provides direct information on the attitudes of Austin residents regarding the internet. The Residential Technology Study is mailed to residents to provide data to the Office of Telecommunications and Regulatory office once every three years. The documents provide evidence and information used, in part, to evaluate the effectiveness of the City of Austin Digital Inclusion Strategic Plan in the City of Austin. The FY21 Study is an opportunity to bring greater understanding of digital inclusion in Austin, particularly in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts on digital access. The FY21 Study is to be procured through a Request for Proposals process, with contract award to the most qualified offeror. The Austin City Council approved $60,000 in the FY 2021 budget of the TARA Office to render the survey.
